Shakespeare Aspect of Viewing Individuals

Examine the society of women within Shakespeare, the importance of being a man in Shakespeare, the role of man. How illegitimate children was looked at in Shakespeare’s time and which character goes against it. Within the play of Shakespeare it can be seen that there is an existence of a stratified society where man are seen to be superior over the society. The existenance of men must be at a particular standard in which they are said to be head of the household and society. They are expected to be involved in warfare activities to defend there country as well provide for there families and themselves for instance Don Pedro and his army men who involved in this activity. In the aspect of women within the play of Shakespeare it can be seen that they should be inferior to men by acting lady like as all times and have a particular type of dress code and language for instance the behavior of Hero who carried out these behavior expeditiously. However, the character Beatrice can be seen as not abiding by these expectations because of the mindset she has which is to live her life to her own expectations, where one can analyze that she is out spoken and doesn’t see heself as inferior to men. For instance the behaviour she has towards the Prince of Padua Benedick to whom she has no remorse on how she expresses herself towards him which should not be so in the times of Shakespeare.

Much Ado About Nothing

“The savage bull may, but if ever the sensible Benedick bear it, pluck off the bull’s horns and set them in my forehead, and let me be vilely painted, and in such great letters as they write ‘Here is good horse to hire’ let them signify under my sign. Here you may see Benedick the married man.” The speaker of this above mentioned quote is Benedick Prince of Padua. The dramatic significance of this statement allows the reader to have an incite on how the character speaks about his ideology of being married which is seen as negative. Also it allows one to conclude that he is against marriage because of the commitment and compromising which is associated within the system of marriage and finally it allows the reader to anticipate whether or not he will settle with this mind set. It can be said that this statements means that Benedick will not be easily tamed and controlled by instructions as a bull will be because he will be the one to design these tasks and also of this is to occur he would be willing to be attired as one. In this statement one can see that his mind set is totally against the belief of being married.
“What should I do with him – dress him in my apparel and make him my waiting gentlewoman? He that hath a beard is more than a youth, and he that hath no beard is less than a man; and he that is more than a youth is not for me, and he that is less than a man, I am not for him. The speaker of this quote is Beatrice niece of Leonato and daughter of Antonio. The dramatic significance of this quote is that allows the reader to have an understanding on what she actually needs and looking for in her spouse in aid of her being satisfied certain qualities must firstly be approved. This quote means that she has not yet found someone that she can love because whether some or too old or young which she is not pleased by and also she expressed that if she has to let a man be a female for him to understand how he should be displayed in aid of her satisfaction.
